About
Here’s what the author, Steve Beigel, looks like when spoiling a perfectly fine photo of a scenic landscape. It has been noted by some that this fairly accurately encapsulates my contribution to the general welfare of the society I have stumbled my way through for oh so many years. My accomplishments in life might generously be described by a thesis entitled “Haphazard Noggin Along the Roadside.” The generous part would be the word “Noggin.”
I was born in 1946, reached maturity in California, graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and subsequently began my odyssey through life on the road less traveled. I’ve been a magazine owner / editor, a nightclub owner/manager, a homeless bum, an unpublished novelist, and a variety of other marginal enterprises other than the software owner / engineer I eventually settled on to feed my face and provide modest dwelling accommodations for myself, and eventually, my wife and six step-children.
The story featured here, Skeletons and Keys, is a wickedly humorous novel of love, tragedy, betrayal, and revenge encompassing the early years of the personal computer revolution and set in the Gold Rush territory of Nevada City, California and the picaresque grape fields and apple orchards of Sonoma County. I hope you enjoy it. I will be posting new chapters each week on Monday and Thursday.
I have also written a non-fiction book about my experiences with a ruthless, thieving, and crooked company called Arbortext, Incorporated (in Ann Arbor, Michigan). That story can be accessed by clicking the tab labeled The Thieves Of Ann Arbor. It tells in detail the Accounting Fraud, software royalty fraud, and Intellectual Property Theft by this company and it’s owner Jim Sterken, as well as the audit Cover Up performed by Plante Moran. A fascinating read that will take you on a journey through the polluted justice system of America and make you laugh, cry, and shake your head in bewilderment and disgust.
